South Carolina women’s basketball forward Joyce Edwards finished with another FIBA first-place finish.

Edwards, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, participated in the 2025 FIBA 3×3 Nations League Americas Conference in Punta Arenas, Chile, where she won with the United States on July 27.

She led in scoring with 7.9 points per game over her 11 games in the tournament and had four double-figure scoring games. Edwards played alongside former teammate MiLaysia Fulwiley, who transferred from coach Dawn Staley’s program to LSU in April.

This comes not long after Edwards won gold with the United States on July 6 at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup title in Santiago, Chile.

This event held six three-game tournaments from July 21-27. The United States won four of the six stops. Edwards played in four of the six stops, albeit not the same four. In Stop 5, she scored 23 points across two games.

Edwards has claimed a title every time she has played for USA Basketball in an international competition. In 2024, before she played for the Gamecocks, she was part of the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup team and the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup gold medal teams. She was named MVP of the U18 AmeriCup.

Edwards led South Carolina in scoring in 2024-25 with 12.7 ppg, but her scoring ability is needed even more now that Ashlyn Watkins will not return this season. Watkins, a 6-2 forward announced on July 25 that she is taking a year off from basketball.

WATKINS: Ashlyn Watkins taking season off, won’t play for South Carolina women’s basketball in 2025-26
