CASPER, WYOMING – “Relentless” and “Committed” were the words printed on the practice jerseys and t-shirts that the South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets wore during their 30-minute practice session prior to the start of the National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 Women’s Basketball Tournament in Casper, Wyoming.

Each of the 24 teams participating in the NJCAA Women’s National Basketball Tournament got 30-minute practice sessions on the court at the Ford Wyoming Center, and SGTC Lady Jets head coach Jason Carpenter and his assistant coach Olivia Melvin made sure the Lady Jets were focused on the task at hand.

“This is what we have been working for all season,” said SGTC Athletic Director and Lady Jets head coach Jason Carpenter. “Now we just have to execute.”

The Lady Jets are ranked 22nd and considered the underdogs against the defending NJCAA 2024 National Champion Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons. The Blue Dragons received an at-large bid to the tournament after losing in their region tournament. They were seeded 11th and bring a 28 – 4 record to the tournament.

The Lady Jets are riding a 13-game winning streak and bring a 25 – 6 record to the tournament. They are also the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) regular season champions and the GCAA-NJCAA Region XVII Tournament Champions.

The two teams will meet at 6:45 (eastern time) on Wednesday, March 26th, which is the second day of the tournament. The tournament kicks off at 12 noon (eastern time) on Tuesday, March 25th. All the action can be viewed live at https://www.njcaa.org/network or on ESPN+. There will be a cost to view the game on the NJCAA site.

The winner of the Hutchinson – South Georgia Tech game will face 6th seeded Indian River on Friday, March 28 at 6:45 Eastern time.
