The St. Louis Blues and Pittsburgh Penguins have completed an AHL trade with the Blues sending forward Mathias Laferriere to the Penguins in exchange for forward Corey Andonovski.
Andonovski has three goals and five points 27 games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season, while Laferriere has two goals and ten points in 33 games for the Springfield Thunderbirds.
Both players in this deal are big wingers. Pittsburgh gains a younger, more experienced AHL player in Laferriere, while St. Louis gets a player who plays a grittier, more physical style as the Thunderbirds fight for a playoff spot.
A sixth round pick of the Blues in 2018, Laferriere is the more experienced pro of the two, recording 21 goals and 70 points in 207 career AHL games.
A native of Uxbridge, Ont., Andonovski signed with WBS in 2022 after four years at Princeton University. He has 18 goals and 54 points in 157 career AHL games.
Both players are Group 6 UFAs at the end of the 2024-25 season.
