The Texas Tech women’s basketball couldn’t continue its March magic.

The Lady Raiders led going into the fourth quarter, but couldn’t hang on as Oklahoma State ended Tech’s Big 12 tournament run with a 62-59 decision Friday at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Lady Raiders got a shot off on their final possession, but Jada Wynn’s 3-point attempt was off the mark at the buzzer.

Despite a cold-shooting night, all-Big 12 guard Stailee Heard had her second scoring outburst against the Lady Raiders. OSU’s first-team selection poured in a game-high 34 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter. That matched the career-high Heard scored in the Cowgirls’ 71-68 win over Tech in Lubbock on Jan. 25.

No. 3 seed OSU (25-5) opened the fourth quarter on a 7-0 run to make up a one-point deficit. The Cowgirls didn’t trail again. OSU will face No. 2 seed Baylor in the tournament semifinals Saturday.

Tech, the 14th seed, was in the midst of its best Big 12 Tournament under fifth-year coach Krista Gerlich. Friday marked the Lady Raiders’ first quarterfinal since 2019, and it was the first time to win two games in the tournament since 2003. Tech upset No. 11 seed Kansas and No. 6 seed Utah.

The Lady Raiders (17-17) played their third game in three days Friday. The result snapped Tech’s three-game winning streak, which was the longest against Big 12 competition under Gerlich.

Loghan Johnson scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Lady Raiders. Bailey Maupin and Jasmine Shavers, who were both all-Big 12 honorable mention, each netted 16 points.
