CINCINNATI — Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III was ruled out with a head injury midway through the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Austin’s helmet made hard contact with the turf after a hard tackle from Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt in the final seconds of the second quarter as he snagged a 6-yard pass from Russell Wilson.
On the Steelers’ first offensive play of the game, Austin was drilled by the Bengals’ Akeem Davis-Gaither on the Steelers’ first offensive play, with Davis-Gaither being flagged for defensive pass interference.
Austin returned the next series and finished his day with two catches on two targets for 29 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter.
