UConn’s Paige Bueckers learned she’d been selected first overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2025 WNBA Draft on April 14.
This defining moment capped off a storied college run that included an NCAA championship and multiple Player of the Year honors.

Just one week later, on episode 13 of the “Straight to Cam | Cameron Brink & Sydel Curry-Lee” podcast, Sydel Curry-Lee, sister of NBA superstar Steph Curry, gave her opinion on Bueckers’ WNBA Draft outfit.
Curry-Lee confessed that she was “a teensy bit disappointed” of the No. 1 pick’s outfit choice.
“I’m a big Paige Bueckers fan,” she said. “But I will say this, though… I was a teensy bit disappointed, not disappointed, but like underwhelmed with her look. I thought her hair was fire… I think just last year, the white fit was just so good that it was hard to beat that.”

Bueckers made history as the first freshman woman ever to be named Associated Press Player of the Year in 2021.

She followed it up with unanimous first-team All-American selections in her junior and senior seasons.
Over her four seasons at UConn, Bueckers averaged 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, finishing her career with 2,439 points, the third highest total in program history.
She also became the fastest Husky to reach both 1,000 and 2,000 career points, doing so in just 55 and 102 games, respectively.
In April 2025, Bueckers led the Huskies to their 12th national title, pouring in 17 points in an 82-59 victory over South Carolina.
In February 2025, Sydel teamed up with WNBA forward Cameron Brink to launch “Straight to Cam,” a weekly show where they cover sports and pop culture, the setting for her candid remarks on Bueckers’ draft attire.
