As it happens in modern college basketball, when a coaching change occurs, rosters are depleted into the transfer portal. The Syracuse Orange, with Gerry McNamara taking over for Adrian Autry, won’t be any different.
They already knew that Tyler Betsey planned to enter the transfer portal.
On Saturday, the news was reported by Jonathan Givony of ESPN that Nait George will also be heading into the portal.

George just played his first season at Syracuse after two collegiate seasons elsewhere in the ACC at Georgia Tech.
In 2024-25, George led the ACC with 6.5 assists per game and also averaged 12.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

This season for Syracuse, George put up 10.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
His outside shooting has left a bit to be desired in his college career, at just 31.8% from 3-point range.
Other than that, though, George is the kind of point guard who can make a team better.
Syracuse will have to figure out how to fill that position, and another program will pick up a quality point guard.
