The Syracuse Orange (20-5, 10-4) avoided a stumble on their path to the NCAA Tournament by putting the hammer down on the Pittsburgh Panthers (8-18, 1-12) last night. Syracuse won their 28th straight game over the Panthers 84-51, but it took a little for the Orange to get going.
The first quarter ended with Syracuse holding a 21-20 lead over a Panthers team struggling on the court and dealing with a bigger issue off the court. Sophie Burrows (18 points) got the blowout started by scoring 8 straight points to open the second quarter. The Orange got down to business and out-scored Pitt 22-4 in the second and had a 43-24 lead heading into the half.
The Orange came out in the 3rd quarter and added to their lead, which meant that Syracuse could once again go deep into their bench for the second half. All fifteen players saw action with six reserves logging more than 10 minutes in this one.
Syracuse out-scored Pitt 25-14 in the 3rd and with the game in hand, it was up to the bench to bring it home. Uche Izoje finished with 18 points, Dominique Darius had 11 points and 9 assists while Maddie Potts notched a career-high with 14 points off the bench.

The Orange remain a half-game out of 3rd in the ACC as they reach the 20-win plateau for the third time in four seasons under Felisha Legette-Jack. Syracuse will be back in action on Sunday when they host Clemson at 2:00.
