Lady Vols’ basketball player Talaysia Cooper was named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Cooper, a South Carolina transfer and redshirt sophomore guard, totaled 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists in Tennessee’s, 79-77, victory against Florida State on Dec. 4 at Food City Center.
Against the Seminoles, she converted 10-of-17 field goal attempts, 1-of-4 three-point attempts and 1-of-2 free throw attempts.
Cooper scored 20-plus points in her last four games and is averaging 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game this season.
In Tennessee’s, 78-68, victory against Iowa, Cooper recorded 23 points, six rebounds and three assists. She converted 10-of-22 field goal attempts and 3-of-3 free throw attempts.
