Former Middle Tennessee State women’s basketball star Ta’Mia Scott, who entered the transfer portal in March, has landed with Alabama.
Scott was named first-team All-Conference USA this season.

The 6-foot guard, a Clarksville native, was arguably the program’s top player this season. She led the team in scoring (16.7 points per game) and was second in rebounding (6.6) and assists (1.6) this season. The two-year starter has already eclipsed 1,000 points in her career.
She was a star at Clarksville Northwest, winning two district MVP awards, averaging 23.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.2 blocks her senior season.
MTSU was 26-8, losing 64-51 at Belmont in the WBIT after finishing runner-up in the CUSA tournament. The Lady Raiders had reached the NCAA tournament the previous two seasons.
Scott’s departure leaves the Lady Raiders having to replace their entire starting lineup.

The Lady Raiders have added Missouri-Kansas City transfer guard Alayna Contreras, who averaged 17.3 points this season.

The Lady Raiders will have a strong freshman class next season, one that includes Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year Macie Phifer, Heritage star Carsyn Swaney, Wayne County standout and TSSAA 1A Miss Basketball Blair Baugus, and Nicole Dominguez, a 6-10 center from Spain.
Alabama finished 24-9 and was sixth in the SEC standings. The Crimson Tide won a first-round NCAA tournament game over Green Bay before falling in the round of 32 to Maryland in two overtimes.

Coached by Kristy Curry, the Crimson Tide have reached the NCAA tournament three consecutive seasons and four out of the last five.
