Tennessee basketball defeats Missouri in Kellie Harper’s return

No. 22 Tennessee (16-6, 8-2 SEC) defeated Missouri (16-11, 4-8 SEC), 98-53, on Thursday at Food City Center. Thursday marked a return to Tennessee for former Lady Vol basketball player and head coach Kellie Harper.

Janiah Barker led Tennessee in scoring with 22 points. She converted 9-of-16 field goal attempts, 2-of-5 three-point attempts and 2-of-2 free throw attempts.

Jaida Civil (10), Deniya Prawl (10) and Barker (eight) led the Lady Vols in rebounds. Talaysia Cooper was the Lady Vols’ leader in assists with four.

Tennessee scored 29 bench points, 54 points in the paint, 27 points off turnovers, 23 second-chance points and seven fast break points against the Tigers.

Harper won three national championships (1996-98) as a player at Tennessee under Pat Summitt. She served as the Lady Vols’ head coach from 2019-24, compiling a 108–52 (53-24 SEC) record and appeared in four NCAA Tournaments.
