LAS VEGAS – Terence Crawford didn’t hold back punches during, and even after defeating Canelo Alvarez.

Crawford, who made history Saturday by becoming the first undisputed champion in three different weight classes, had a defiant posture speaking to reporters at the post-fight press conference. Crawford entered the fight as an underdog, and has said for years he’s been underrated and underappreciated in the boxing community. However, that all ended with his masterful title win over Alvarez.

“You hear that? All of it (means a lot). It all goes hand in hand,” Crawford said when a reporter read his stats and accolades. “It means a lot to me because anybody can be a nobody, like I said. That’s all they say I’ve been fighting: nobodies. So what can they say now? Somebody tell me: What can they say now? That’s it. What can you say? Any words?”

Crawford admits this win was not only for himself, but also for the haters. There’s no denying defeating Alvarez was huge for Crawford, even though he was already considered an all-time great prior to Saturday. However, if there were any doubters of his greatness prior to the fight, the win over Alvarez certainly leaves very little for the critics to work with.

“Both prove the doubters wrong and myself right,” Crawford said. “Like I said, there’s a lot of disappointed people going home tonight and some of them going to cry, but it’s part of the sport.”

Now with the super middleweight WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF and Ring Magazine titles in hand, Crawford holds this moment very high up among the others in his career – especially because he entered without any status in the weight class.

“For sure, this is definitely a signature win,” Crawford said. “Moving up to two weight classes, being the B side, fighting a guy that’s been undefeated in the division, undisputed, going to take all his titles and doing everything I said I was going to do. Of course this means a lot. My other undisputed runs, I had titles. I was coming in as a champion. But this one, I was coming in as an underdog, no champions, and I felt everything was on the line.”
