HOUSTON — The Texans have agreed to a two-year, $13 million contract extension with kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn, with the $6.5 million average annual salary making him the NFL’s highest paid at his position, his agency Athletes First announced.

The Chiefs’ Harrison Butker currently holds that honor with a $6.4 million average annual salary.

Fairbairn was entering the last year of his deal. He was a reliable scoring threat for the Texans, as he led the league in field goal attempts (48) and makes (44) in 2025. He was also perfect on extra points, going 28-of-28.

Fairbairn ranked ninth in field goal percentage (91.7). He also had 22 kickoff touchbacks, which ranked fourth in the league.

In Week 18 against the Indianapolis Colts, Fairbairn nailed a career-high and Houston Texans franchise-record six field goals. It also tied an NFL record for most makes in a game.

This is one of many extensions the Texans have done for their players this offseason. Last week Houston extended All-Pro defensive end Danielle Hunter for $40 million and tight end Dalton Schultz agreed to a one-year extension worth $12.6 million.
