Texas A&M’s future secondary is on pace to include one of two five-star cornerbacks in the 2027 recruiting class, as third-year coach Mike Elko and new CB coach Bryant Gross-Armiento have heavily pursued cornerbacks John Meredith and Joshua Dobson, who both took their official visit with the Aggies over the past two weekends.
As things stand, just two weeks into June, the Texas Longhorns have now become the favorite to land John Meredith, while Texas A&M is the leader for Joshua Dobson, who has had nothing but positive things to say about College Station and the Aggie coaching staff, recently speaking with On3 recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong nearly a week after his A&M OV.

Throughout his recruiting process, the message from Mike Elko has stayed consistent, centered on being a key part of the No. 1-ranked recruiting class that already features a nation-high 5 five-star commits. The combination of Dobson with five-star cornerback Raylaun Henry would be lethal on paper.
“Man, the experience was great,” Dobson stated. “They really put on a big show and they are definitely on top. I can’t wait to see what the future holds. I’m looking at committing early July so definitely going to take these last two but they definitely made a mark.”
After taking an OV to Auburn, Michigan, and South Carolina will receive visits over the next two weekends, and while the Wolverines still have a shot to land his commitment, Texas A&M’s recent NFL Draft success, which included a record 10 players selected in late April, has likely made an impact on every current and future prospect, proving that Elko knows how to develop.
