Texas A&M has offered F Mackenzie Mgbako’s younger brother

by

New Texas A&M head basketball coach Bucky McMillan has been on a tear during his first official offseason, already landing nine players from the transfer portal, led by former Indiana standout forward Mackenzie Mgbako. On the recruiting trail, McMillan has been very active in comparison to former head coach Buzz Williams, which is also unsurprising.

On Wednesday, just a week after Mackenzie Mgbako opted to sign with the Aggies amid his performance during the 2025 NBA Combine, McMillan fielded an offer to his brother, 2026 four-star small forward Ethan Mgbako, who currently plays at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, and has offers from Pitt, Creighton, LSU, Florida State, and six other programs.

Knowing that his brother chose the Aggies over several blue-blood programs in the transfer portal, McMillan likely has the inside track with the younger Mgbako, who will enter his final season at Oak Hill this fall, and has already shown his ability as a stretch four, similar to his brother.

During his recent performance with Team Melo in the EYBL Nike Basketball Tournament, Mgbako’s 27 points and three assists led the way, as Ethan has continued to follow in his brother’s footsteps as each team’s leading scorer.
