Texas A&M HC Mike Elko provides definitive answer regarding Terry Bussey’s position future

by

On Thursday, Texas A&M’s 2025 spring season begins as second-year head coach Mike Elko is ready to return to the practice field and take advantage of his time with his roster veteran roster while helping the newcomers from the transfer portal and 2025 signing class get acclimated.

On Wednesday, Elko, alongside senior cornerback Will Lee III and starting quarterback Marcel Reed, spoke to the local media to preview what we can expect from the Aggies over the next four weeks. With a clear focus on Texas A&M’s wide receiver room, former five-star athlete and sophomore wideout Terry Bussey’s position future has been an offseason talking point that finally received an official answer from the boss.

“Terry (Bussey) is a wideout now.”

“Terry came in a little bit banged up when we got him in the summer. He never quite got healthy through summer training. He started camp playing corner, and we flipped him midway to receiver. … You saw scratches of what Terry is capable of.”

Last summer, ahead of his first season, Bussey’s position future was still up in the air due to his natural skillset at wide receiver and cornerback, and while he could easily thrive in the secondary, Elko feels that taking away his snaps at wide receiver would not only hurt his development but also place a hole in A&M’s offense.

During his 2024 freshman season, Bussey appeared in 12 games and recorded 17 receptions and 216 receiving yards. He also gained 102 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
