Texas A&M is a finalist to land elite 2026 4-star CB

by

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko is widely recognized for his expertise in cornerback development, particularly during his tenure as the Aggies’ defensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021. In his first year as head coach, the cornerback group faced challenges in achieving consistency, largely because of veteran Tyreek Chappell’s season-ending injury.

With the return of standout CB Will Lee III and Chappell next season, former Georgia cornerback Julian Humphrey is also in the mix, paired with incoming freshman corners Adonyss Currie, Jamar Beal-Goines, and Cobey Sellers entering the program. Overall, the cornerback should look much improved in 2025, giving Elko more time to focus on adding recruiting talent in the 2026 cycle.

On Saturday, it was revealed that 2026 four-star cornerback Dorian Barney, one of Texas A&M’s priority prospects, released his Top 12 program list: Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Miami, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Colorado, and Texas A&M round out the list.

On the field, Barney has been a varsity starter since his freshman season and will finish out his high school career in Carrollton (GA). Alabama is the favorite to land his commitment, but the Aggies hope to host him for an official visit this summer.

According to 247Sports, Barney is currently positioned as the 78th-ranked prospect in the class, the 7th-ranked cornerback, and the 8th-ranked prospect in Georgia.
