As the Texas Longhorns continue looking for ways to improve their 2027 class, they are casting a wide net. On Friday, Steve Sarkisian and his staff stayed busy on the recruiting trail, offering Alabama commit Nash Johnson III. While prying him away from Alabama will not be easy, Texas is making its interest clear.
Currently, the McEahern High star is ranked as the 63rd best player from Georgia in his class by 247Sports. They also rank the talented cornerback as the 54th-best player at his position. As the Longhorns‘ recruiting target has been a human highlight reel, he has attracted the attention of programs nationwide.
During the recruiting process, Johnson has also received offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Virginia. While he has a bright future ahead with the Crimson Tide, he has kept his options open. That has allowed programs like the Longhorns to keep communications open as they try to grow their relationship with Johnson.

With plenty of time to make additions, the Longhorns have been busy adding to their 2027 class. They have already secured commitments from four-star wide receiver Easton Royal, three-star tight end JT Gercai, and three-star cornerback Karnell James. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have also made offers to four-star prospects Caden Waye, Noah Roberts, Nick Lennear, Kesean Bowman, and Brock Williams.
At the moment, the Longhorns’ 2027 class is ranked 19th in the nation by 247Sports. As they continue to add more talent, that rating should change. Adding a player like Johnson would help them get closer to the top ten.
Over the next few weeks, Texas will be a team to watch as they try to flip the Alabama commit and show him why Austin is the best place for his college career.
