Texas football bolstered its 2026 recruiting class on National Signing Day as Melissa offensive tackle Max Wright announced his commitment.
Wright is a three-star recruit according to 247 Sports composite rankings and chose Texas over SMU, Duke, Baylor and others. He’s the 33rd-ranked offensive tackle in the nation, the 55th-ranked player in Texas and the third player to join the Longhorns‘ 2026 recruiting class.
“I’m choosing Texas because they’ve been the first ones to recruit me and they’ve believed in me since the start,” Wright said to Horns247. “And I’m always welcomed by the players there.”

Wright is 6-foot-6, 290 pounds, which fits the mold of a player offensive coordinator Kyle Flood has consistently turned into a premier offensive lineman. Texas right tackle Cameron Williams was 6-foot-5, 360 pounds out of Duncanville High School and the 35th-ranked offensive tackle. Three years of training and development at Texas transformed his body and turned him into a potential first-round NFL draft pick.
Redshirt freshman Trevor Goosby was a slender 6-foot-6, 280-pound three-star prospect coming out of Melissa High School. He’s now in line to take on a starting role in 2025, having grown to 6-foot-7, 315 pounds.
“The O-line, we have a guy from my high school that goes here. It’s really nice to connect with those guys. Trevor’s (Goosby) looking good. He got a lot bigger since he left Melissa,” Wright told Horns247.
