PFLUGERVILLE — On Halloween night, College Station’s rushing attack in the second half turned out to be a nightmare for Weiss.
The Cougars overcame a 14-point halftime deficit by keeping the ball on the ground — they only attempted three passes — and running for 252 yards the final two quarters to spur their come-from-behind 44-38 win Thursday at the Pfield.
Aydan Martinez-Brown ran for 131 yards and four touchdowns in the second half and finished with 162 yards and five TDs on the ground to lead College Station, with Wilson Stapp tallying 166 yards with a TD rushing. Ninety-eight of Stapp’s yards came after the break.

College Station (8-1, 6-1 District 12-5A Division I) scored 27 straight points and kept Weiss to less than 60 yards of offense in the second half before Weiss’ final scoring drive in the final minute.
The Cougars finished with 386 yards rushing.
Trailing 31-17 to start the third quarter, College Station recovered a Weiss fumble to start their comeback and Martinez-Brown crossed the goal line from 5 yards out a few minutes later. He added a 2-yard TD later in the third quarter to tie the game at 31-31, then gave College Station its first lead of the game with a 12-yard TD jaunt early in the fourth quarter. His 27-yard scoring run with barely more than two minutes left essentially secured the Cougars’ win.
In a key District 12-5A Division I contest, Weiss looked like it might pull an upset of the top 10-ranked Cougars.
The Wolves (7-2, 5-2) took a 17-0 lead to start the game on Nicholas Johnson’s 4-yard TD run, James Buchanan’s 47-yard field goal and Jaxon Schad’s 72-yard scoring strike to Adrian Wilson.
The teams traded scores the rest of the half. College Station produced rushing TDs from Martinez-Brown (3 yards) and Wilson Stapp (6 yards), while Weiss countered with Daniel Berry tossing a 62-yard TD pass to Willson off a double pass and Braiden Wooley’s 42-yard touchdown run.
Gustavo Lopez hit a 49-yard field goal as time ran out in the second quarter to bring the Cougars within 31-17 at the break.
Schad finished with 261 yards passing and Wilson hauled in five catches for 162 yards to lead Weiss.
