by

The Texas Longhorns women’s basketball team is having a great season. The Lady Longhorns are 26-2 on the season and sit atop the SEC standings. Texas’ only losses are to Notre Dame and South Carolina, who UT split the season series with.

Now, Texas is up to No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports coaches poll. The Horns moved up one spot, jumping UCLA. The Bruins lost to rival USC this week. Texas received five first place votes. The Fighting Irish take over the top spot in the poll. Notre Dame received 23 first place votes. After beating their cross-town rivals, USC jumps to No. 4 in the poll. Traditional power UConn rounds out the top five.

The SEC has seven teams in the Top 25 ranking. The Big Ten checks in with five teams in the poll. The ACC, which includes Notre Dame, has six teams in the ranking, while the Big 12 has four teams.

The Lady Longhorns next play on Monday, Feb. 24 in Athens to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
