Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has yet to win a national championship, but he has led his team to two consecutive College Football Playoff appearances.

On Monday, his team got some more good news in the form of a commitment. On3’s Charlie Williams reported that four-star defensive lineman Corey Wells was Texas’ latest commitment.
This news comes after Texas also landed defensive lineman Dylan Berymon on Saturday.
Walls hails from Petal, Mississippi, and attends Petal High School. He is listed at 6-foot-5, 290 pounds.
Sarkisian coached Texas to an 11-1 regular season with appearances in the SEC Championship Game and the playoff.

Wells is the No. 28 defensive lineman and No. 12 prospect from Mississippi in the 2026 class via the On3 Industry Rankings.

He also held offers from the Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Auburn Tigers, Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers and others.
He joins a Texas recruiting class highlighted by five-star quarterback Dia Bell, four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr., four-star receiver Chris Stewart and four-star offensive tackle Max Wright.
Wells is Texas’ second defensive lineman commit in the 2026 class.
College football would not be the same without rivalries. That is especially true for the “Red River Rivalry” between Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners.
Texas recently made some considerable headway with five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo. Ojo announced that he was canceling his visit to Oklahoma and that a decision would be coming soon.

With the 2025 college football season still far out, predictions are starting to be made. In Texas’ case, that was for a Heisman sleeper. Texas running back Tre Wisner was picked by a college football analyst as a sleeper to win the award.
Texas opens the 2025 season with the Ohio State Buckeyes on August 30.
