Former Texas Tech guard Kevin Overton revealed his decision to enter the transfer portal on Sunday night.
Given his ties to new Iowa basketball assistant coach Luke Barnwell, the Hawkeyes could be players in Overton’s transfer portal recruitment. Barnwell coached Overton last season with the Red Raiders where the duo combined to lead Texas Tech to a 28-9 record and trip to the Elite Eight.

Texas Tech fell to eventual national champion Florida in the Elite Eight, 84-79. Overton scored five points on 2-of-4 shooting in 13 minutes off the Red Raiders’ bench in that contest against the Gators.

Overton averaged 7.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while shooting 42.2% from the field and 33.1% from 3-point range last season with the Red Raiders. The OKC product played in 36 games and started one with Texas Tech.
Overton scored a season-high 20 points against Arizona in the Big 12 Tournament championship and 12 points in a Sweet 16 overtime win over Arkansas.
