Texas women’s basketball: Where are the Longhorns ahead of Selection Sunday?

After being at the top for two weeks, Texas women’s basketball dropped to No. 5 in the major polls after losing to South Carolina 64-45 in the SEC tournament.

The results of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, released Tuesday, have the Longhorns at No. 5 as well as the latest AP rankings. The two rankings have the same top five.

UCLA is atop both polls after beating USC in the Big Ten tournament, followed by SEC tournament champions South Carolina, Big East champions UConn and then the Women of Troy.

Notre Dame dropped to No. 8 after being bounced in the ACC tournament semifinal against Duke, the eventual champions and No. 7. No. 6 is held by TCU after winning the Big 12 championship for the first time in program history.

Other teams have moved one or two spots in the rankings and Ole Miss joined the top 25.

The full NCAA Tournament field will be announced at 7 p.m. CT Sunday.
