Three-star 2027 WR flips commitment from Auburn to SEC rival

by

The Auburn Tigers are down a member of their 2027 recruiting class after an SEC rival poached one of their wide receiver pledges.

Cedrick Simmons, a three-star wide receiver from Selma, has flipped his commitment from Auburn to Alabama just three weeks after initially pledging to Auburn. Simmons’ decision to flip comes one day after Rivals’ recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong submitted a prediction favoring Alabama to flip the three-star wide receiver from their archrivals.

What does Simmons’ decision mean for Auburn’s 2027 class? The Tigers are now down to 25 commitments and hold steady at No. 11 in the nation according to 247Sports and No. 12 in Rivals’ rankings despite Simmons’ decommitment.

Auburn holds commitments from two other wide receivers: Dashawn Hall, the No. 9 player from Alabama and the top wide receiver from the state in the class, and Brylan Odur, the No. 18 player from Tennessee and the second-highest rated wide receiver from the Volunteer State.

Both players rank higher than Simmons, who is No. 27 among Alabama prospects and No. 55 at his position according to 247Sports.

Could Auburn reload and add another player to its 2027 haul? The next commitment to watch for is Karlos May, a four-star defensive lineman from Ramsay High School in Birmingham. He will announce his pledge on Saturday, July 18, and Auburn remains a heavy contender alongside Georgia and Ohio State.
