The Texas Longhorns landed their first offensive linemen of the 2027 recruiting cycle and they stayed local to do so with Monday’s commitment from Austin Westlake product Jackson Cook.
In recent cycles, Texas has landed several players from the local Austin powerhouse program, including Michael Taaffe, Ethan Burke, Conner Robertson, and Colton Vasek, who all decided to stay home play for the Longhorns, and now another Texas legacy is following in their footsteps.
Cook is the first offensive linemen to commit to the Longhorns for the cycle, but he certainly won’t be the last with as head caoch Steve Sarkisian and his staff continue to pursue in-state and national prospects.

Similar to Robertson, Cook profiles as a guy that will get looks at both guard and center when he arrives on campus. It is never a bad idea to secure a guy who can line up as the nucleus of your offensive line and that’s what position coach Kyle Flood has done here.
Cook chose the Longhorns over programs like Arkansas, Northwestern, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Wake Forest. A consensus three-star prospect, Cooks is ranked as the No. 963 player nationally and the No. 62 interior offensive lineman, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The 6’2.5, 290-pounder is the seventh pledge in a class that currently slots at 11th in the country.
