Tom Izzo isn’t going anywhere, and that means he’ll continue building Michigan State basketball through recruiting and landing some of the nation’s top high school talent.
The latest player to receive an offer from Izzo and the Spartans is four-star center Jaydn Jenkins.

The 6-foot-9, 205-pound standout from Warminster, Pennsylvania currently plays for Archbishop Wood and is quickly becoming one of the premier prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.
According to 247Sports, Jenkins carries a rating of 92, ranking him as the No. 46 overall prospect in the 2027 class. He’s also rated as the No. 6 center nationally and the top-ranked player coming out of Pennsylvania.
His composite ranking is even more impressive. Jenkins owns a 0.9846 composite rating, moving him up to the No. 39 overall recruit in the country. While that ranking places him one spot lower among centers at No. 7 nationally, he remains the consensus top prospect in the state of Pennsylvania regardless of which recruiting service you prefer.
Michigan State certainly isn’t the first program to recognize Jenkins’ potential. By extending an offer, the Spartans become the 20th school to enter the race for one of the nation’s most sought-after big men.

Izzo has built his Hall of Fame career by identifying elite talent, developing players over multiple seasons, and helping them reach both collegiate success and the NBA.
Current Michigan State star Jeremy Fears Jr. is living that dream. After returning for another season in East Lansing, Fears enters the year with legitimate lottery-pick potential. He could be joined in next year’s NBA Draft by teammates Coen Carr and Anton Bonke, further proving that the Spartans have re-established themselves as one of college basketball’s premier developmental programs.
Izzo has also continued to show that his recruiting approach is paying off. Michigan State signed a top-10 recruiting class in 2026, highlighted by Team USA U19 selections Jasiah Jervis and Ethan Taylor, giving the Spartans another wave of elite young talent ready to develop under one of the sport’s greatest coaches.

While many programs have shifted almost entirely toward the transfer portal—spending countless hours and dollars chasing experienced players, former recruits, or athletes looking for a bigger payday—Izzo continues to stay true to the philosophy that has defined his career.
Rather than relying heavily on the portal, he continues investing in elite high school prospects, molding them into outstanding college basketball players, NBA-caliber talent, and, perhaps most importantly, young men prepared for life beyond basketball.
Some fans and national talking heads may criticize Izzo’s “old school” approach to roster building, especially in an era dominated by NIL and the transfer portal. However, there’s little debating that elite players still want the opportunity to wear the Green and White and learn under one of the greatest coaches the game has ever seen.
If Michigan State can ultimately land the talented 6-foot-9 center from Pennsylvania, the Spartans would add another foundational piece to what already appears to be a bright future. Pairing a prospect like Jenkins with the program’s recent recruiting success—and a team led by Wooden Award favorite Jeremy Fears Jr.—would only strengthen Michigan State’s outlook for years to come.
