The Alabama Crimson Tide are likely to be without one of their top pass rushing threats in Saturday’s season opener at Florida State, coach Kalen DeBoer announced Wednesday.

Defensive tackle and team captain Tim Keenan will “probably not” be a full-go for Alabama when the Crimson Tide face the Seminoles, he revealed on Wednesday’s SEC coaches call. Keenan is dealing with a lower-body injury, DeBoer said.

Per Colin Gay of The Tuscaloosa News:

“We’re getting a lot of it kind of figured out,” DeBoer said. “After practicing, honestly, gathered information. Did a little in the moment I’m in right now just trying to understand exactly where it’s at. So our staff is unbelievable. They have done some pretty impressive things on getting guys back and so waiting for the update on that. I don’t know if I can even give you a percentage and be confident on that. We’ll see, but it is a lower-body injury.”

On3’s Brett McMurphy later reported that Keenan will miss “multiple games” and was expected to undergo surgery.

Keenan is one of Alabama’s best threats along the defensive line. He played in all 13 games a season ago and recorded 40 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks to go with two quarterback pressures and one pass breakup.

Kickoff for Alabama-FSU is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. The game will be televised on ABC.
