The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up to play the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium this afternoon, but while the defending Super Bowl champs were resting ahead of their AFC West showdown, the Kansas Jayhawks took their place on GEHA Field.
With renovations to David Booth Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas underway, the Chiefs were generous enough to let the Jayhawks play some of their home games at Arrowhead this season.
Despite a disappointing start to Kansas’ 2024 campaign, head coach Lance Leipold and the Jayhawks managed to win their third game with this victory over the Cyclones on Saturday, and are somehow still in contention to earn a bowl game appearance for the third year in a row, which would be a first for the 134-year-old program.
Though Kansas is not expected to contend for a spot in the expanded college football playoffs, an outstanding performance by running back Devin Neal and quarterback Jalon Daniels against the Cyclones has given the Jayhawks hope after a disastrous start to their season.
