“Tre has done a phenomenal job during the course of the season of continuing to grow, make plays on special teams,” Heupel said. “Got some action on the defensive side of the ball early in the year, but his preparation here in December has been really good. Expect him to be ready to go play at a really high level.”
The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back appeared in 12 games for the Vols during the regular season. He recorded 11 tackles and one pass deflection.
Poteat had a season-high six tackles against UAB on Sept. 20. He had one pass deflection versus New Mexico State on Nov. 15.
