After a convincing win at Ole Miss on Wednesday, Nate Oats’ Alabama Crimson Tide are set to face the last-place South Carolina Gamecocks in SEC basketball play Saturday night at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama (17-7 overall, 7-4 SEC) won its third game straight on Wednesday with a 93-74 victory in Oxford. The Crimson Tide had a big second half against the Rebels, scoring 61 points to overcome a slow start that saw them trail by nine in the opening 10-plus minutes.

Latrell Wrightsell Jr. led Alabama with 21 points, all on 3-point shots, as the Tide won their fourth straight in Oxford. Labaron Philon added 18 points and Aiden Sherrell finished with 15. Alabama had five players finish in double figures for the night with Amari Allen scoring 13 points and Aden Holloway totaling 12.
For the second straight year, South Carolina (11-13, 2-9) has the worst overall record in the SEC and is tied with Oklahoma and LSU for the fewest wins in conference play. The Gamecocks have lost five straight entering the weekend and fell 78-59 to the Missouri Tigers last Saturday.
Sixth-year senior Meechie Johnson leads South Carolina in scoring with 16.3 points per game. Philon continues to lead Alabama and the SEC in scoring with 21.4 points per game.
Alabama is unranked in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll for the second straight week.
