The Alabama Crimson Tide notched its first win of the 2025 season on Saturday, defeating UL-Monroe 73-0.
The performance was a strong bounce-back after the Crimson Tide fell on the road at Florida State in Week 1. Starting quarterback Ty Simpson was a perfect 17-of-17 for 226 yards and three touchdowns in the triumph. The final stats tell an accurate story of how the game played out, as Alabama out-gained UL-Monroe 583 to 148.

Now, football fans in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and in Madison, Wisconsin, are turning their focus toward a critical Week 3 matchup between the Badgers and Crimson Tide. Wisconsin is 2-0 entering the matchup, though the team looked shaky at times against the bottom-ranked Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
The injury status of Wisconsin quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. will be an important storyline entering Saturday’s game. He missed the team’s Week 2 win after leaving the opener with a knee sprain.
In addition to the Wisconsin signal-caller, the availability of two key Alabama offensive playmakers will be worth watching as the week continues. Those players: wide receiver Ryan Williams and running back Jam Miller.
Williams, first, exited the team’s Week 1 loss to Florida State with a concussion. He was then sidelined for its win over UL-Monroe on Saturday. While nothing is official, he is likely to be available against the Badgers on Saturday.

Miller, Alabama’s projected starting running back entering the season, went down during fall training camp with a collarbone injury. Notably, early reports circled Alabama’s Sept. 27 contest against Georgia as the likely date for Miller’s return.
Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer said postgame Saturday that the team will provide updates on both Williams and Miller in the coming days. It will be then that we receive clarity surrounding what exactly Wisconsin will face when it takes the field in Tuscaloosa.
Wisconsin and Alabama will kick off at noon ET, 11 a.m. CT on Saturday. The Badgers will likely enter the contest as significant underdogs.
