Tyree Adams injury update: Brian Kelly shares latest news on LSU offensive lineman

LSU football will be without one of its key offensive linemen for the foreseeable future.

During his weekly radio show on Thursday, Oct. 23 at TJ Ribs in Baton Rouge, LSU coach Brian Kelly confirmed that offensive lineman Tyree Adams will be out with a right ankle injury that required him to undergo tightrope surgery.

The 6-foot-7, 310-pound offensive lineman sustained his injury in the Tigers’ upset loss to then-No. 17 Vanderbilt on Oct. 18. He got rolled up on during a play.

Kelly mentioned that true freshman offensive lineman Carius Curne will start in place of Adams, who has started each of LSU’s first seven games of the season.

LSU is set to take on No. 3 Texas A&M on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6:30 p.m. CT inside Tiger Stadium, where the Tigers will look to extend their six-game win streak at home.

Kelly mentioned on his weekly radio show that Adams has undergone tightrope surgery for his right ankle injury that he sustained in Week 8 at Vanderbilt.

The offensive lineman suffered an injury late in the first quarter of LSU’s loss to Vanderbilt on Oct. 18 in Nashville. He walked off the field with a notable limp and the help of LSU trainers. He went into the medical tent for further evaluation before being brought back to the locker room.

Kelly told reporters on Monday, Oct. 20 that Adams would miss the Texas A&M game, but did not go further than that.

How long will LSU’s Tyree Adams be out for?

It remains unclear how long Adams will be out for, as Kelly said on his radio show that the Tigers could “maybe” have him back “late in the season.”

“That’s usually about a month (of rehabilitation), so maybe we’ll have him back late in the season,” Kelly said on Oct. 23.
