Mar. 8—Emilia Long scored 15 points and Tori Hollingshead added 13 as the UAA women’s basketball team topped Western Washington 67-38 at the GNAC semifinals on Friday in Lacey, Washington.
The Seawolves, ranked No. 20 nationally in Division II, dominated the game throughout. UAA led 16-5 in the first quarter and outscored Western Washington in each quarter.
“I thought last week happened for a reason, and it gave us a chance to rest and talk about the things that really matter to us, especially on the defensive end,” said UAA head coach Ryan McCarthy in a statement. “Western is really good, and this was really hard to do — defending them at the level we did. I’m just proud of our team’s effort.”
While the Seawolves only had two players reach double figures, they had six players score eight or more points.
The Seawolves take on the winner of Saint Martin’s and Montana State Billings at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
