The No. 2 seed UConn Huskies women’s basketball team is preparing for a Sweet 16 showdown against No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday.
UConn defeated No. 15 Arkansas State, 103-34, and then beat No. 10 South Dakota State, 91-57, in a pair of blowouts.
While the NCAA Tournament is still going, questions have been swirling about whether or not Paige Bueckers will declare for the 2025 WNBA Draft.
After the Dallas Wings landed the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft lottery, there were rumblings that Bueckers could bypass the draft, play in the Unrivaled League, and then declare for the draft in 2026.

Just a day before UConn’s Sweet 16 game, Rebecca Lobo confirmed Bueckers’ plans to declare for the 2025 WNBA Draft.
“Paige Bueckers confirmed to us today that she will enter the 2025 @WNBA Draft. (Some had suggested she would not declare, play in Unrivaled, and then declare in 2026.)” Lobo wrote on X.
Before the news, Bueckers was the top pick in just about every single mock draft, and it’s not hard to see why.
The UConn guard has been a superstar during her time in Storrs. This year, she is averaging 19.2 points with 4.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. She also has two seasons with 20 or more points per game, which came in 2020-21 (20.0 PPG) and 2023-24 (career-high 21.9 PPG).

Now, Bueckers is headed for the WNBA Draft, and barring a surprising turn of events, she should be going to the Wings.
