Jean Silva is one step closer to his dream after beating Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314 and getting paid extra $50,000 in performance bonus Saturday night in Miami, but that dream isn’t the UFC belt.
“Lord” told MMA Fighting going into the event that his dream was to marry his partner Carolina de Castro in a church, and that required a lot of money. After his second-round submission victory on April 12, Silva explained why his wedding party would be “too expensive”, but he’s now “very close” to making his dream come true.
“We should be married already but we want Belo to perform on our wedding,” Silva said at the post-fight press conference, citing popular Brazilian singer Belo. “I’ll make a request here. For the love of God, Belo, bring your rate down, brother. It’s too expensive. Or I’ll have to fight four more times and sign a new contract again.”
A report from April 2024 stated that Belo charged $120,000 per concert.
“You guys think if I invite Dana to be my best man he pays for Belo’s rate?” Silva asked.
When UFC CEO Dana White showed up for his post-event media conference, MMA Fighting’s Jose Youngs passed the question along to White.
“I’m gonna need more information on this,” White answered with a smile on his face, “but I’m probably in.”
Dana White was absolutely baffled over Jean Silva offering him the position of best man at his future wedding:

Silva vs. Mitchell was one of the most anticipated fights of the card, and Silva delivered a star-making performance to improve to 5-0 in the UFC with five bonuses won.
“I’m sure I’m the hero of the people now,” Silva said. “They needed one, and Jean ‘Lord’ Silva has arrived.”
The Fighting Nerds featherweight is known for his knockout power and striking ability, but choked Mitchell out on the ground with a slick ninja choke.
“Training was way more complicated than the fight,” Silva said. “This is a very important work done by Pablo [Sucupira] and Flavio [Alvaro] with us, and we’re showing it. We had [Mauricio] Ruffy recently, me some time ago, and now myself again, and now we’ll have Carlos Prates. Guys, get used to seeing this, please.”
