LAS VEGAS – Jose Delgado met with MMA Junkie and other media members Saturday after his first-round knockout win over Hyder Amil at UFC 317.

Delgado (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) drilled Amil (11-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) with a perfectly placed jumping knee up the middle in their prelim fight at T-Mobile Arena. Amil hit the canvas, and Delgado had him finished just 26 seconds into the fight.

Despite the blazing-fast finish, Delgado was denied a post-fight performance bonus. But he thought getting Amil out of there in a hurry was possible.

“I was expecting war. I was prepared for it. But I’m not surprised. I know how dangerous I am. I know how quick I can get these guys out of here,” Delgado said at his post-fight news conference.

The 27-year-old featherweight, who trains with the likes of former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson at The MMA Lab in Arizona, handed Amil the first loss of his career. He also thinks he may have put other 145-pounders on notice.

Delgado now has seven straight wins, and all 10 of his wins are by stoppage.

“When I close my eyes and I’ve thought about this and I visualize, that’s what I wanted this moment to be,” Delgado said. “I wanted everybody to know who I was. I wanted the division to know. I wanted to real ones to know that I’m a real one. I belong in the elite. I’m of a certain class. I’m in the ‘A’ class, and I want to showcase that every time.”
