Makhachev (28-1) vacated the UFC lightweight title and beat Jack Della Maddalena in November to win the UFC welterweight title. The Russian hasn’t lost a fight since 2016.
Now comfortable at the the welterweight level, Makhachev believes he can expose his opponent at UFC 330.
“This fight, I will take more risks to finish my opponent, because I like finishing my opponents,” Makhachev said to MMA Junkie via Yahoo Sports. “This fight, I think honestly, from the first time when I take him down, I have a chance to finish him, because I saw his ground game – it’s not so good, you know?

“He has good striking, long reach, long arm, and he controls the distance, always goes back, but I see when I take him down, it’s going to be a finish.”
Machado Garry (17-1) lost against Shavkat Rakhmonov in a UFC welterweight title eliminator in 2024 but recovered by winning two straight.
The confident Irishman believes he’s the man to end Makhachev’s reign and unbeaten streak.
“As much as I respect Islam, as much as I know how good he is, and I know how talented he is, I know that I can beat him if I go out there and do what I believe I can do,” Machado Garry told Eddie Hearn via MMA Junkie.
