UFC head says no stadiums, but McGregor says he’ll only return for a stadium

UFC CEO Dana White remains uninterested in doing stadium shows.

White and various UFC fighters were in attendance for WrestleMania 41, which took place last week at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Despite experiencing the ambiance, White hasn’t changed his mind on hosting UFC events in stadiums.

“No, nothing will change my mind about a stadium show,” White said during the UFC on ESPN 66 post-fight press conference. “I mean, you guys were here tonight. Kansas City is an awesome city. The people here are great, I really like this town and the energy in that place was awesome all night. That’s the energy you get – not that there wasn’t any (energy at WrestleMania). What’d they have, 63,000 people there? You’re going to get some energy like they did. I am not a fan of stadiums. I like arenas.”

The sport’s biggest star Conor McGregor, who hasn’t fought since July 2021, revealed that he wouldn’t make his UFC return unless it was in a stadium after WrestleMania 41 took place. Former UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria is also eager to compete at the famed Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid, home of the Real Madrid soccer club.
