Brando Pericic vs. Louie Sutherland was a slugfest from the opening bell at UFC Fight Night 270, but only one heavyweight could sustain the power shots.
That man was Pericic (6-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC), who survived Sutherland’s (10-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) early onslaught and takedown attempts to find a home for some hard punches that stung his opponent and led him to cover up for a referee TKO stoppage at the 1:48 mark of Round 1 on Saturday at The O2 in London.

It’s now back-to-back first-round finishes for Pericic since making his octagon debut in September, both of which have come inside two minutes. The 31-year-old said this is just the start, and he hopes to make a quick turnaround for UFC Fight Night 275 on May 2 in Perth, Australia.
“He’s a tough fella, big fella and I knew he was going to come out hard,” Pericic said in his post-fight interview with Michael Bisping. “The bigger the better, I’m going to knock out every c*nt in this division. UFC Perth, I’m coming. Anyone in that top 10, top 15. Let’s go.”
