UFC Fight Night 272 post-event facts: Renato Moicano climbs choke list

The UFC kicked off its April schedule in a positive fashion on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 272 from the Meta APEX in Las Vegas, which saw eight of 13 fights end in a stoppage.

One of those went the way of Renato Moicano (21-7-1 MMA, 13-7 UFC), who was superior to Chris Duncan (15-3 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in every fashion en route to a second-round submission in the lightweight headliner.

Event stats

The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $151,500.

Debuting fighters went 2-1 at the event.

Tommy McMillen, Manolo Zecchini, Alessandro Costa and Alice Pereira earned $100,000 UFC Fight Night 272 fight-night bonuses. Four other fighters earned $25,000 finish bonuses.

The UFC sold VIP tickets to fans for UFC Fight Night 272, but the promotion did not make public the total number of tickets sold or the gate.

Betting favorites went 9-3 on the card. One fight had even odds.

Betting favorites fell to 4-6 in UFC headliners this year.

Total fight time for the 13-bout card was 2:20:26.

Renato Moicano def. Chris Duncan

Moicano improved to 8-3 since he moved up to the UFC lightweight division in March 2020.

Moicano has earned seven of his nine UFC stoppage victories by submission.

Moicano’s seven submission victories by rear-naked choke in UFC competition are tied for third-most in company history behind Demian Maia (nine) and Michael Chiesa (eight).

Duncan has suffered all three of his career losses by stoppage.

Virna Jandiroba def. Tabatha Ricci

Virna Jandiroba (23-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) has landed at least one takedown against 12 of her 13 UFC opponents.

Tabatha Ricci (12-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) has suffered three of her four career losses by decision.

Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev def. Brendson Ribeiro

Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has suffered eight of his nine career victories by stoppage.

Brendson Ribeiro’s (17-10 MMA, 2-5 UFC) three-fight losing skid is the longest of his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since March 2025.

Ribeiro has suffered eight of his 10 career losses by stoppage.

Ethyn Ewing def. Rafael Estevam

Ethyn Ewing (10-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has earned seven of his 10 career victories by stoppage.

Rafael Estevam (14-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) had his 14-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his career.

Estevam was unsuccessful in his UFC bantamweight debut.

Tommy McMillen def. Manolo Zecchini

Tommy McMillen (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has earned nine of his 10 career victories by stoppage.

Manolo Zecchini (11-5 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has suffered four of his five career losses by stoppage.

Jose Delano def. Robert Ruchala

Robert Ruchala (11-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has suffered two of his three career losses by decision.

Thomas Petersen def. Guilherme Pat

Guilherme Pat (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had his five-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his career.

Alessandro Costa def. Stewart Nicoll

Costa (15-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has earned 12 of his 15 career victories by stoppage.

Costa has earned all three of his UFC victories by knockout.

Stewart Nicoll (8-3 MMA, 0-3 UFC) has suffered two of his three career losses by stoppage.

Nicoll suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Darrius Flowers def. Lando Vannata

Darrius Flowers (13-8-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC) snapped his three-fight losing skid for his first victory since August 2022.

Lando Vannata (12-8-2 MMA, 4-8-2 UFC) fell to 0-2 since he returned to the lightweight division in April 2023.

Vannata suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Alice Pereira def. Hailey Cowan

Pereira (7-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has earned six of her seven career victories by stoppage.

Hailey Cowan’s (7-5 MMA, 0-3 UFC) three-fight losing skid is the longest of her career. She hasn’t earned a victory since August 2022.

Cowan has suffered four of her five career losses by stoppage.

Cowan suffered the first knockout loss of her career.

Tresean Gore def. Azamat Bekoev

Tresean Gore (6-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC) has earned five of his six career victories by stoppage. He’s finished all of his UFC wins by submission.

Azamat Bekoev (20-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has suffered both of his UFC losses by stoppage.

Dione Barbosa def. Melissa Gatto

Dione Barbosa (9-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has earned two of her three UFC victories by decision.

Melissa Gatto (9-3-2 MMA, 3-3 UFC) has suffered all three of her career losses by decision.

Kai Kamaka III def. Dakota Hope

Kai Kamaka III (18-7-1 MMA, 2-2-1 UFC) was successful in his return to the UFC for a second stint. He earned his first victory with the organization since August 2020.

Kamaka III has earned 14 of his 17 career victories by decision.

Dakota Hope (11-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has suffered both of his career losses by decision.
