UFC legend Randy Couture airlifted to burn center after crash

by

UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture was airlifted to a Kansas City-area burn center Tuesday after he crashed during practice runs on a race track.

Couture, 62, suffered first and second-degree burns, trauma, and smoke inhalation but is expected to make a full recovery, his spokesperson confirmed to MMA Junkie after an initial report by TMZ Sports. He is still hospitalized at the time of publication.

The accident occurred as Couture was preparing for his National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) debut later in 2025. No further details were made available as to how the crash happened or what exactly Couture’s recovery process will be.

“It’s a whole different animal,” Couture said in a recent interview with Bubba The Love Sponge. “Sitting in the stands, it looks easy. They say, ‘Oh, he just goes fast.’ But there is so much more involved.”

Couture is a six-time UFC champion and one-time tournament winner. He also is a current color commentator for PFL.
