Michael Page got his hand raised on home soil at UFC Fight Night 270 in London, although in an entirely unentertaining manner.
Page (25-3 MMA, 4-1 UFC) landed the better shots on the feet against former training partner Sam Patterson (14-3-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in their welterweight featured bout at The O2. After three underwhelming rounds, “MVP” was awarded the unanimous decision victory by scores of 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.
It was a listless affair in the first round. Almost no strikes were thrown as Page stalked and fainted while Patterson circled and waited for the shot that didn’t come.

More of the same unfolded through the second round. There was slightly more engagement and clinch work, but the crowed voiced its displeasure with boos with Page and Patterson failed to fully commit to a fight-ending sequence.
With everyone hoping for a big moment in the final frame, it never came. Both men pushed a little bit harder to swing the fight in their favor to no avail. It was an unconvincing performance, but ultimately Page claimed the win on the judges’ scorecards.
