Alex Pereira saved the day for the UFC with his second title defense at light heavyweight.
Back in 2024, Pereira stepped up on short notice to defend his UFC belt in a rematch against always dangerous Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303. The promotion was in desperate need of a big title fight, as their original main event between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler had fallen through due to an injury sustained by the Irishman. Pereira stepped up and delivered another violent finish, furthering his legacy and star power in MMA.

Pereira (13-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC) returns to the cage this Sunday against Ciryl Gane (13-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC) in an interim heavyweight title fight, as he looks to become the first fighter to win three UFC belts in three different divisions. This bout serves as the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250 (Paramount+) – which takes place at the White House in Washington.
