With the Spring transfer portal window officially open again, there has been a lot of movement in college football this week. And that included for the North Carolina Tar Heels.
On Wednesday, North Carolina landed an early commitment from one of the top linebackers in the transfer portal as they added to their roster. Linebacker Mikai Gbayor committed to UNC on Wednesday morning, finding his next home.

The linebacker spent four seasons at Nebraska and entered the transfer portal in the winter. He then committed to Missouri before entering the transfer portal again and now lands in Chapel Hill for his final college football season.
With the addition of Gbayor, UNC’s linebacker core got better. That position was a need for the Tar Heels and addressing it was important for Bill Belichick and his staff.
In 13 games with Nebraska last season, Gbayor appeared in 12 of them and started 11 games. He finished with 49 tackles, a sack, and three pass breakups in those games.
The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker is ranked No. 178 overall and the No. 6 player in the transfer portal per 247Sports.
