UNC football transfer portal tracker: Who is joining, leaving Tar Heels in 2024-25?

by

UNC football will end the 2024 season against UConn at the Fenway Bowl, but the Tar Heels have already had some changes within the program.

The transfer portal is open and there’s been movement for UNC before the team closes the book on 2024 in Boston. Because of head coach Mack Brown’s dismissal in the final week of the regular season, the Tar Heels got a jump on the rest of the nation.

The Tar Heels finished the regular season with a 6-6 record. They’ll play UConn (8-4) in the Fenway Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 28 (11 a.m., ESPN) in Boston. Freddie Kitchens will serve as UNC’s interim coach for the bowl game and former NFL coach Bill Belichick is among the candidates to replace Brown in 2025.

Belichick won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, who now feature former UNC quarterback Drake Maye.

Brown, who coached the Tar Heels for 16 seasons across two stints in Chapel Hill, was fired in the final week of the regular season and coached his final game in UNC’s 35-30 loss to N.C. State on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Kenan Stadium.

We’ll update this story throughout the offseason as players make their decisions in college football’s version of free agency. The first transfer window lasts through Dec. 28.

Here’s who’s coming and going for the Tar Heels.

After two seasons at UNC, Louie is ready to move on. He made one appearance last season and didn’t see the field in his final year for the Tar Heels.
