CFBudge — a popular college football social media account — has released his most likely FCS over power four schools upsets for this upcoming weekend’s games, and you may be surprised to see the Spartans near the top of the list. Of the 13 games featuring power four vs. FCS schools included in the rankings, CFBudge has Michigan State-Youngstown as the No. 2 upset that is most likely to happen. The Spartans-Penguins matchup is only behind North Carolina-Richmond on his list.

Michigan State comes into this game feeling good about themselves following a thrilling 42-40 double-overtime victory over Boston College last week. The Spartans are 2-0 again this year, and looking to make it back-to-back 3-0 starts for the first time since 2007.
Youngstown State is also coming into this matchup with a 2-0 start to the year. The Penguins have a dazzling dual-threat quarterback in Beau Brungard that could cause the Spartans’ defense fits on Saturday should he bring his A-game.
There is no betting line currently posted for this matchup between the Spartans and Penguins, but ESPN’s SP+ rating system projects this as 20-point advantage for Michigan State. So essentially if an upset were to happen, it would be in the realm of a three-touchdown upset, which is actually not that wild to see in college football. Do I personally see that happening? No, I don’t but Youngstown State is clearly a solid FCS team that deserves some respect in this matchup.
