College football’s spring transfer portal window is officially underway. And it did not take long for USC to land its first commit of the spring. On Monday, former Notre Dame safety Kennedy Urlacher announced his commitment to the Trojans.

Urlacher’s name is a very familiar one to football fans. His father is Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher. Brian played 13 seasons for the Chicago Bears in the 2000s and early 2010s, being named to eight Pro Bowls.

The younger Urlacher earned a reserve role as a true freshman at Notre Dame last season. On the year, he recorded 12 tackles, including one against the Trojans last November.

The spring portal window is USC’s first u see new general manager Chad Bowden. Hence, it would be somewhat surprising if the Trojans are not fairly active in the portal this cycle. Expect Urlacher to be the first of several additions that USC makes to its roster this spring.
