The UTEP women’s basketball team faded in the final quarter and a half of a 84-70 loss at Kennesaw State.
The Miners led 44-41 with 5:48 remaining in the third quarter after a Luisa Vydrova jumper, but Kennesaw took over from there, going on a 34-14 run to pull away.
The Miners fell to 3-4 in Conference USA and 9-9 overall after getting swept on the weekend road trip, while the Owls improved to 3-4, 8-10.
The game was tightly contested until the wheels fell off for the Miners. In the first seven minutes of the fourth quarter, UTEP shot 27% to KSU’s 67% and had 11 turnovers to the Owls’ 3.
Portia Adams led the Miners with 19 points, Ivane Tensaie had 15 and Luisa Vydrova scored 12. Ndack Mbengue had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
