Vanderbilt women’s basketball remained ranked in the AP top 25 at No. 24 after a win over Florida and a loss to Ole Miss.
The men’s basketball team fell out of the AP poll after being ranked No. 24 a week ago. The Commodores’ lone game was a 20-point road loss to Oklahoma. Vanderbilt received four vote points in the AP poll.
Women’s basketball was ranked No. 23 in last week’s USA TODAY Coaches Poll, but the updated poll will not release until Tuesday. Men’s basketball was not ranked and did not receive any votes in Monday’s Coaches Poll release.
In the women’s win over Florida, freshman Mikayla Blakes scored 53 points, a single-game record for both Division I true freshmen as well as the SEC. But the Commodores then lost, 76-61, to Ole Miss on Sunday at Memorial Gymnasium. Vanderbilt has wins over two ranked teams in Tennessee and Alabama.
